A Page From My Business Diary ~

An unexpected twist unfolded last week, proving once again that challenges often lead to unexpected wins.

It all started when we approached a vendor to explore their reverse call data appending technology for Rex Direct. We were focused on the usual due diligence—cost, match rates, and overall effectiveness. But in the process, we stumbled upon something surprising…

A Vendor Breakup & a Well-Timed Discovery

Over at Rex Validate, things took an unexpected turn. We had to part ways with one of our key vendors due to some fundamental disagreements. This left us in a bind—we needed a new solution, and fast.

And here’s where the timing gets interesting…

That same vendor we initially contacted for reverse call appending also happened to offer PII scoring technology—the very thing we suddenly needed a replacement for. What started as an exploratory call for one problem turned into a potential fix for another.

Putting It to the Test

Of course, we weren’t just going to switch on a whim. We ran a head-to-head comparison, testing their PII validation tool against our existing data sets. The results? Almost identical accuracy.

The only difference? The cost—significantly lower.

At that point, the decision was easy. Not only did we find a replacement, but we upgraded to a more cost-effective solution without sacrificing quality. By the end of this week, our new validation system will be fully integrated into Rex Validate.

The Takeaway

Sometimes, setbacks lead to better opportunities.

What seemed like a challenge—losing a vendor—turned into the perfect opportunity to find a better, more cost-effective solution. By staying open to possibilities, conducting thorough testing, and acting at the right time, Rex Validate not only replaced a vendor but secured a superior deal.
